About Us
The Ewe is a unique combination of nature and art - and Ireland's only interactive & interpretive sculpture garden.
In fact no where else in the world can visitors experience an educational nature trail, which is like an out door natural history museum.
For ten years Sheena Wood and her writer husband, Kurt, ran the successful Ewe Art Centre on the Mizen peninsula. After two years of building work the Glengarriff sculpture garden reopened in 2004 as a continuation of that work.
The art works are by Sheena, a prolific artist with an impressive range of work from paintings to textiles, mixed media, mosaics, ceramics and sculpture, and by Kurt.
The soothing sound of falling water accompanies you, as you cross the first bridge over a river into the garden. The waterfall cascades down beside Falling Water Lodge, a timber clad house, passive solar house. The architect was inspired by the stunning waterfall setting and the famed American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright who designed his famous house, Falling Water, by a waterfall.
